Updates

Sorry, no pictures this time. But most of the things in this entry you probably wouldn't want to see pictures of anyway.

Aaron has had some interesting things happen in the last 2 weeks. Now by interesting, I don't mean fun...at all. For some reason his has taken to throwing up his meals...and usually this happens to Mommy or Daddy since we are holding him (usually me though, lets be honest). The first time was the worst time. He had already gone to bed and I heard him sneeze, so I went in to check on him. I am SO glad that I did, because he rolled over and threw up all over his mattress. I, being a new Mommy, freaked out and yelled for Jared as I stood Aaron up. He threw up several times after that, and we ended up calling the nurses help line and eventually going to the ER (he got so pale, and weak, and we had a hard time keeping him awake). I have never felt more heartbroken than I did seeing my baby so miserable as he cried, and dry heaved, and didn't understand what was going on. Of course, by the time a doctor saw him in the ER he looked normal again. Since that first time he has thrown up 3 more times, so I scheduled an appointment with his doctor. He said that these are more than likely just reflux episodes (apparently you can "look at a baby the wrong way" and they will barf, wonderful). As long as they aren't more frequent that once every 3 days, not to worry. It still is no fun at all, and if this is reflux I hope he outgrows this stage quickly.

Another new thing is that Aaron now refuses to eat solid food. This happened around the time we tried some Gerber food (I had made everything up until then). I don't know if it has anything to do with that at all. We also tried some food that I had stored in the freezer as well as more rice cereal, but he doesn't want any of it. So we are skipping the solids for at least a week and sticking with just breastfeeding. Maybe the little dude just wants to be close to me. Thank goodness he is a champion nurser.

The final weird thing pertains to his sleeping habits. This month has been filled with tears from baby, and frustration for mom. Aaron decided that he didn't want to go to bed...ever. He skipped all naps save for about 45 minutes for a couple of days. That does not make for a happy boy or happy parents. We are working on this still, but I am thankful that we finally seem to be getting the night time episodes taken care of. I stand in the room with him by his crib and sing to him until he falls asleep. Sometimes he needs a few little pats on his back or bottom too to help him drift to sleep...but he is going to sleep (hurray!). I assume this is all due to him wanting to be near Mommy and Daddy all day, and not wanting to miss anything fun that may be going on. Who knows.
