So what does a typical day look like for baby Aaron and mommy? Well thanks for asking, I'll let you know =)
Aaron usually gets up for the day between 6:30am and 7:30am. Since he is a bit older now, he is able to entertain himself for a bit before I go in to get him. When I stand over his crib and say hello he greets me with a HUGE smile. He sure does know when it is finally morning and he can start the day. Depending on the severity of the diaper, we either start off with a change or we go out to the living room and have some breakfast (for both of us, usually him first though since patience isn't in baby's vocabulary). Jared leaves for work around 8am, and will say goodbye to both of us. Aaron will then give daddy a HUGE smile to help him get through his day. After Jared leaves Aaron gets some playtime on his play mat and I usually drink a cup of coffee. About 1.5 to 2hr after he wakes up, Aaron is ready for his first nap. He usually sleeps in his bouncer, and will nap for about 30min to and hour. After the nap it is diaper time (let's be honest, diaper time occurs whenever the situation calls for it, which is usually every couple hours or less...stinky). If it isn't too cold, I'll let Aaron have some time in only his diaper. He seems to like being free of his clothes. We spend the next chunk of time laying on Mommy and Daddy's bed reading books and staring out the window. Later we go back into the living room for more play. Aaron will take his afternoon nap around 11:30. I am trying to transition at least one nap a day into the crib. The only problem with this is that he will only stay asleep for one sleep cycle (around 45 minutes) in the crib, when he would sleep for almost 2 hours in his bouncer. I am hoping he learns how to put himself back to sleep in his crib soon, because he sure does need his sleep. But anyway, that is the morning routine.
After his afternoon nap, Aaron will eat and usually if there are any errands to run we will go out after this. We have to plan ahead, so that he will have just eaten before we leave. This way he will last longer out of the house without complaining to be fed again. Aaron needs another nap in the late afternoon, but lately he has been stubborn and skipping those. Jared gets home around 5pm, and then he gets to spend some time with Aaron while I make dinner and do the dishes. By dinner time Aaron has been quite the fusser because he has skipped his afternoon nap. Silly baby. After we eat we spend some more family time together before bed time (and bath time every other day). Aaron has been finally falling asleep around 8:30pm. And that is the afternoon/evening routine.
Luckily for me the middle of the night events have diminished over the past months. Lately Aaron gets up between 2:45am and 4:30am for his first night feeding. Praise the Lord he is sleeping so well! He goes down after that and will get up a couple of hours later. The most I typically need to get up is twice before the morning. This is significantly better than getting up every two hours in the beginning.
So that is what our days look like. Or course they are filled with tickles, giggles, "talking", drooling, spitting up, burping, crying, pooping, and fun things like that too.
